SPECIAL BOARD SESSION
OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF THE
COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT OF SOUTH TAMA COUNTY
The Board of Directors of the Community School District of South Tama County met on November 27, 2007 in Special Session at the Administration Building, Tama, Iowa at 7:00 p.m.
On call of the roll the following were present: Andy Bagnall
Jackie Dvorak
Ron Hala
Don Wacha
Michelle Yuska

Also present were: Greg Darling, Kim Gardner, and Joyce Wiese from the local newspaper.
Motioned by Yuska, second by Bagnall, to approve the agenda as presented. All ayes.
Dave Haggard of Tryon Associates presented a rough draft of the process and timeline for the superintendent search. He discussed each step and the date each step will be performed.
They agreed to use focus groups to get opinions of administrators, teachers, support staff, students, parents, and the community. The Board will need to have the focus groups ready by December 7th. Mr. Haggard also mentioned that during the last two days of interviewing, the firm would be available to sit in for an additional $500.00 a day. Questions followed.
Following the discussion with Tryon & Associates, there was a conversation about the advantages of having the firm here the two days of the final interviews.
Motioned by Bagnall, second by Yuska to spend the extra $1,000.00 to have Tryon & Associates here for the final two days of interviewing. All ayes.
A discussion on organizing the focus groups followed.
Greg Darling presented a list of the needs of the schools and an estimate of the costs. The list is a projection as a part of a five year plan. The list is informational only.
Greg Darling also made a rough draft of rental fees and policies for facilities at various schools. This is informational only.
Motioned by Hala, second by Yuska to adjourn at 9:40 p.m. All ayes.
